I knew Dave Hunt from Track & Football. Dave was a champion Pole Vaulter and a City Champion. He was a bit excentric and was rummored to have climbed the Watts Towers on a dare. I don't know what took Dave so young in life. Rip Dave.

He did climb the Watts Towers in the middle of the night. I was with him. The police showed up and shined their lights on him at the very top. They ordered him down. He said if they turned off the lights that were blinding him, he would come down. They turned them off for a few minutes, then back on. Dave was nowhere to be found. The police let us go. We drove around for a while looking for Dave but no luck finding him. The Watts Towers are in Willow Brook, the most dangerous part of Watts. We went home and I saw Dave the next day. He had walked all the way home to Bell California near Atlantic Ave and Gage. He was one of my best friends until I got kicked out of HPHS for hitting a teacher in the auditorium. I lost touch after that. I think Allen Holcom or Mike McKee was the other participant in our adventure. Dave was the best. Very generous and a loyal friend.
