John lived a block away from me and when I was about 14 he very patiently taught me how to drive a stick shift. We went around the block over and over again. I can still hear "don't pop the clutch"........
John was my very first "real" boyfriend, albeit not for long, but forever in my heart. He reached out to me three years ago via HPHS website and we were able to renew a wonderful friendship until his death on Jan. 7, 2012.
He was a proud Marine; father of four, grandfather of 11 and devoted husband and son...and one of my best friends of these latter years.

John, Daryl Bristol and I, tore up the streets in Huntington Park on our doodlebugs until the police caught us.
We had many wonderful times racing and working on those doodlebugs. The best regards to his family.
Precious memories.
